Daily water usage for research and/or other purposes: No
Water in the Tank (160 gal useful capacity): 148 gallons remaining
Time(s) of watering for crops: 11:30
Changes to crops:
Narrative: Sprayed liqui-grow onto vegetables, watered microgreens and plants. 90% germination in the paper towel group. Vermicular has now about the same germination, with the average height of the seeds being much taller than paper towel, the tallest being 4 centimeters. I think this is because the vermicular allows the seeds to stand upright, and the big disparity in results occurred after the switch from blackout to clear lids, which positively impacted the vermicular group a lot.
Harvest: No harvest.
Support/supplies needed: Microgreen SOP doesn’t cover protocol for transferring seeds from tray to soil. Can I take liberties to plant the vermicular group, or for experimental purposes should I leave them in the tray?

EVA #: 10
Purpose of EVA: Testing rf signal strengths for research, Geologic sample collection for brick construction, effects of harsh Martian environment on participants.
Start time: 10:00
End time: 14:00
Narrative: The team drove the rovers north of the Main Hab along Cow Dung Road to south of Compass Rock. The rovers were parked, and the team descended into Candor Chasma. Within the chasma, the team took multiple rf readings, rock and soil sampling and observations. Upon collecting all data, the team ascended the chasma and returned to the rovers to then drive back to the main Hab.
Destination per MDRS Map: Candor Chasma
Destination Coordinates (use UTM WGS 84): N425100, E521750
EVA Participants: Keegan Chavez (Crew Commander), Vindhya Ganti (GreenHab Officer), Daria Bardus (Crew Journalist)
Road(s) and routes per MDRS Map: Drive north on Cow Dung Road, take a right to go onto Galileo Road. Park the rovers on Galileo Road south of Compass Rock. Head to Candor Chasma entrance and descend until desired location is reached.
Mode of travel: Walking and Driving (Perseverance and Opportunity)

Journalist Report Title: Martian Beef
This morning, we had pancakes before getting ready for the EVA. On EVA, Ben, Katharina, and Ben went to Candor Chasma to perform more research. Ben collected more samples, Katharina was able to collect more data on her signals, and Armand was able to write down more observations. While out on EVA they encountered “Martian” cows and collected a lot of cool rocks for all of us to admire when they got back.
Today was also shower day so Idris, Vindhya, Keegan, and I took showers while the others were out on EVA. During their EVA we also drank our fair share of hot chocolate, read, and made lunch. After lunch and more showers, we started another round of Terraforming Mars after not playing for a full 24 hours. To give us all a fighting chance Keegan is sitting this game out and giving us all advice on how to play. Throughout the game and day people have been working on their research and daily responsibilities.
For dinner we are having more potato soup and red lobster cheddar biscuits with garlic herb butter that doesn’t melt. After dinner we are going to make some potato chips before movie night and finish our game of Terraforming Mars.

Summary Title: A Good Day on Mars
Mission Status: All systems nominal
Sol Activity Summary: The crew was presented with a choice of pancakes this time, apple cinnamon or chocolate with chocolate chip. After the crew left for EVA 10, the remainder of the team at the Hab got to take some much needed showers. Martian Chili was made over noodles this time. The afternoon was filled with some research progress and another game of Terraforming Mars, the commander was NOT invited this time. Dinner was some more potato soup, with added potatoes and chicken, with some special cheddar bay biscuits. The crew has planned a movie night in the loft with an assortment of candy.
Look Ahead Plan: The weather is looking nominal to finish the rest of the planned EVAs. Idris will begin collecting the environmental sensors and processing the data. Katharina will continue to gather as much RF data as possible. The rover will get two more opportunities to roll its wheels. And Ben now has samples to make into new bricks.
Anomalies in work: None
Weather: Partially cloudy, calm winds
Crew Physical Status: Healthy and fit
EVA: Katharina, Ben, and Armand went into Candor Chasma to retrieve a sample for the brick making project and Katharina got to investigate the RF signal strength of an area with known low signal coverage. Navigating was slow, but the EVA team took their time and efficiently moved toward the mouth of the Chasma while gathering RF data. The team travelled into the Chasma for about an hour, the crew scientist gathered enough samples to build a new set of bricks. The team turned around halfway through the allotted EVA time and returned to the Hab on time. A very successful EVA.
