General Notes on Rovers: The mirror on the perseverance rover was cracked and 3 sharp glass shards ended up falling on the ground. At the end of the EVA, the 3 shards were put in the glove box. The mirror for perseverance needs to be replaced and the shards disposed of.

All collected soil samples were continued to be put into microtubular devices, imaged and incubated. The pH sensors were tested and prepared for tomorrow’s EVA.

Measuring tape was used to measure the water level. The soldering iron and all the supplies for it were used successfully to fix the temperature sensor. Some assorted caps, screws, washers and nuts were taken to test the dexterity of crew 290 gloves. All materials were returned at the end of the day.

Questions, concerns and requests to Mission Support:

As mentioned above, the temperature sensor was fixed. Below I have attached images of how it currently looks inside. The 9V battery clip was opened up, the folded wires in it were taken out and soldered directly to the wires that come from the motherboard. Both wires were then covered in corresponding electrical tape. Although the battery can be changed, the future users should be mindful and careful. The temperature sensor is now nominal and ready for hardcore field work.

Trash from the bathroom was changed and put in the rear air lock for collection. That trash can be burned.

Notes on non-nominal systems: The toilet tank was at full on the sensor and was emptied. After hearing that everything went through the pipe, the sensor still showed that the tank is ⅔ full. Mission support was contacted and they said that is an issue with some gunk stuck on the sensor. In addition to the sensor problems, the whole room stinks. Moving forward, is it possible to get a febreeze? Hopefully the emptying of the septic tank solves this issue.

Summary of Science Dome Operations:

Set up the Science dome for MADMEN experiments. Cleaned and sterilized the hood. Started the control test: so far everything is going as planned. The incubator is operational. Optimized the microscope to be able to see the surface of the microtubule devices using two optical lenses (4x and 10x). The day was finished with set up and preliminary tests of the ATP sensor.

Crew scientists continued working on their robot in the RAM. The RAM was also used as the airlock for EVA 4. Measuring tape was used to measure the water level.
