Report title: Sol Summary Report
Crew #: 326
Position: Commander
Report prepared by: Keegan Chavez
Date: 02-01-2026
Sol: 5
Summary Title: At the whim of Mars
Mission Status: research slightly delayed, other operations nominal
Sol Activity Summary: A double helping of pancakes were served this morning to fuel what we thought would be a double EVA day. Rainfall overnight and a heavy cloud cover throughout the morning caused us to change our EVA plans and eventually cancel our second EVA of the day. While the crew scientist was disappointed as he was unable to gather samples today, his spirits were heightened by the crew’s first game of Terraforming Mars, won by the Commander! Whole crew spirits were heightened by their first showers of the mission. The day was finished off with breakfast for dinner and some rousing games of whodunit.
Look Ahead Plan: EVA schedule has been rearranged; the crew still expects to get every project finished barring any more weather delays
Anomalies in work: Low visibility and wet terrain caused delays in some research projects
Weather: Cloudy, foggy, rainy, clear in the afternoon
Crew Physical Status: Healthy and fit, feeling refreshed
EVA: Katharina, Daria and Vindhya performed the morning EVA around the Hab. A loose connection on the rover was filled with mud causing the controller to be unable to communicate with the rover. A harsh but important lesson to learn on Mars. Katharina was able to take RF power measurements around the Hab by implementing a new method for signal generation that allows for open comms at the same time.
