Purpose of EVA: Changing the atmospheric equipment battery and exploration of Compass Rock

Start time: 11:20

End time: 12:47

Narrative:

The goal was to change the atmospheric equipment battery near East of Marble Ritual and then continue to the North and then East to Compass rock to explore the area.

We had several issues during the EVA. First, we forgot to take the battery when we left the airlock, so we had to do another 5 min of decompression. Then, when we arrived at Cow Dung Road, we had a communication problem. The radio of the HSO stopped working, it was a false contact, it took us 30 min to solve the problem. Because of this time loss, we decided to just change the battery and to cancel the exploration to Compass Rock. The operation went well, there was just a lot of dust and mud so It was difficult to walk. When we handed back to the station and to the airlock, we figured that we forgot the Safety Kit and the Battery in the rovers so we had to go outside again and do another decompression. After the EVA, we decided to make a clear procedure for the EVA preparation and the equipment so that we won’t forget anything for the following EVAs. It was a little bit frustrating because we didn’t have time to do everything but it was a good experience so that we can improve during the mission !
