Sol: 10
Summary Title: A Quiet Day on Mars
Mission Status: All operations nominal
Sol Activity Summary: There was a little leftover cleaning to do after last night’s movie, Jurassic Park was on. The crew settled for some oats and cereal before prepping for EVA 11. The EVA team left for Kissing Camel while the rest of the crew continued to clean the Hab and make some vegetable soup with rice for lunch. The afternoon was very quiet. A few members rested after the EVA while others worked on science in the Science Dome. The stresses of Mars are beginning to take their toll but the crew are handling it well. The dinner tonight is some baked mac and cheese and a pear cobbler with graham cracker crust. The team is planning some light games, no Terraforming Mars, and an early bedtime tonight.
Look Ahead Plan: We will continue to gather the crew engineer’s environmental sensors over the next few EVAs. The crew scientist will try to finish laying another set of bricks tonight and collect a final sample on the EVA tomorrow. The crew biologist and health and safety officer will continue to gather as much data as they can. And the rover team will prep the rover for one last EVA.
Anomalies in work: None
Weather: Partially cloudy
Crew Physical Status: Healthy and fit, wearing out slightly, a couple crew members are suffering from nasal congestions and slightly elevated temperatures.
EVA: Katharina, Daria and Vindhya went to Kissing Camel today with 3 objectives: retrieve the first environmental sensor, gather RF signal strength data of the area, and test the rover’s collection capabilities in a more compact terrain. All 3 missions were a success. The operation region was much closer to the Hab and slightly smaller than previous EVAs, the crew returned in just over 2 hours.
